About the owner of Claws Exotic Wood Designs, LLC
My name is Mark Holtzclaw, and one day my wife asked me to buy her a cutting board. I said "I could probably make you one". I certainly did not expect that the project would ultimately lead to a new business venture, but after I made that board for my wife, she said "that is the most beautiful cutting board I have ever seen. You should make these for others".
So, I started "Claw's Exotic Wood Designs, LLC" in 2013 and the rest is history.
My goal is for us to make the most beautiful, longest lasting product we can for our customers!
I'm not a cutting board manufacturer, I'm an artist that loves designing cutting boards. Let me design a one of a kind board for you!
I spent 10 years in the U.S. Navy serving on board one of the last diesel Submarines in the fleet. It is now a museum in Portland, Ore., which is fitting since I grew up in Southern Oregon.
I also pursue many other passions in my life.
I love to fish, (especially fly fishing). One day a friend of mine in our fly fishing club showed me how to make Large Mouth Bass Poppers. I was so fascinated with the process that he showed me how to make my own. I had to write a book about how to make these highly effective fly poppers.
If you are interested in learning this process, here is a link to my book on Amazon:
I have been playing pool since I was 6 years old. I compete in the Internationals, (held in Las Vegas) every year, for the past 25 years. In 2019 I practices really hard because my family was going to come see me play. There were 650 entrants from around the world for the 8-Ball tournament. I placed 9th place out of 650. Not bad for a beginner eh? :-)
My day time job is a Project Manager for the NNSA. I have worked in the IT field for almost 40 years. I have certifications for: PMP (Project Management Professional), ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner), Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt), ITILv3 (Foundations), and CMMI (Services).
I very much enjoy a good round of golf and shoot in the low 80's.
I love to grow my own produce. Each year I learn how to grow better and better yields of vegetables.
